Fresh start
the hardest part is getting the ball rolling, so here goes:
as i'm starting a new chapter of my life, i thought it'd also be an opportune time to start a blog to document all the new things i see, do, think, eat, wear...and so on. i just recently moved to the NYC area from living all over California for a number of years. this is my first time living on the east coast. a culture shock but one that i find refreshing. so far, this cold winter is definitely the biggest obstacle. i'm slowly learning how to look good in winter wear without resembling Ralphie Parker from A Christmas Story. funny enough, i decided to spend my time as a marketing/PR intern for a fashion design company before i settle down and begin my schooling in May. basically, i write about fashion, marketing their goods/clients. with NYC being the fashion capital of the US, it's quite new and exciting for me especially since i love fashion. granted my fashion has revolved around a more surf/skate relaxed/beach-lifestyle urban streetwear kind of look - a tomboy sporting jeans, tees, and flip flops year round. but i am quick to learn and appreciate the finer things. it's all there in front of me, why not?
<-- coming from a little Pacific Island, this is dressed up for me! with funky hot pink heel boots no less! my first clubbing experience in NYC. wicked hot. but putting on shoes has been my definition of dressing up. haha. hopefully my style evolves through this blog.
my philosophy is make fashion your own. i have very eclectic taste and am willing to give almost anything a try, experimenting with new looks to flatter my look, my body, yet still feel comfortable enough to dance in it. but i love bargain shopping - can't get enough shoes, hats, accessories, and jeans! that's a hard horrible habit for me to break just to wear one high end article. so i just work to make what i have look $cha-ching$
so stick with me on this journey. i'm determined to explore this city from top to bottom to find the best deals on everything, to make this city my own, and to have a fan-freakin-tastic time in NYC. feel free to lend me a hand with your comments, tips, and leads.
